New Heartland Lions Eye Banks Branch to Serve the Hutchinson Community

Location Will Assist Area Hospitals and Support Local Donor Families and Cornea Recipients

Hutchinson, Kan. (October 16, 2012) – This past year, 339 Kansas cornea transplant recipients, including 49 in South Central Kansas, escaped a lifetime of blindness thanks to the generosity of their eye donors, the work of Heartland Lions Eye Banks (HLEB), and the support of medical professionals in the Hutchinson area.

With six locations in Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, HLEB is dedicated to transplanting donated eye tissue back into the local communities it serves. To continue this mission, HLEB is announcing the opening of its new branch office in Hutchinson, located at 1200 N. Main St., #2. The Hutchinson office will help HLEB increase service to its partner hospitals in the region, better facilitate the recovery of donor tissue, and impact the lives of those facing blindness in the region.

The Hutchinson office is supervised by technical coordinator, Heather Britain. Britain previously directed the HLEB office in Wichita for two years, overseeing local technical operations and managing recovery logistics.
