Ronald Walkenbach, PhD
Ron Walkenbach is Executive Director of the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation. For twenty-nine years Ron has provided leadership for the Foundation while giving specific management and direction to MLERF’s individual programs.

Walkenbach received a B.S. in Chemistry from Quincy College in 1970 and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975. From 1975-1977, Ron conducted a postdoctoral fellowship in diabetes research at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

In 1977, Walkenbach returned to Columbia to join the staff at the Eye Research Foundation of Missouri (now the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation). He assumed the role of Executive Director in 1981, while continuing his own research into corneal physiology.

Today, Walkenbach’s leadership unites MLERF employees, volunteers, donors and Missouri Lions under one vision to enhance the quality of life through quality vision.
