BRANCH MANAGER - SPRINGFIELD, IL

POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Technical Director and/or Director of Hospital Services, this full-time employee is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of a Heartland Lions Eye Bank recovery facility. This includes directly supervising full-time and/or part-time Eye Bank Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position’s duties may include any or all of the following:

• Supervise the recovery and transportation of eye tissue procured within the assigned territory
• Maintain staffing to ensure coverage with primary and secondary on-call recovery technicians
• Maintain accessibility for supervisory call unless prior arrangements are made for another manager to cover. Consistently respond to pages and calls in a timely manner
• Maintain complete and accurate records for all facility functions
• Provide timely and effective verbal and written communication with staff and administrators on important issues
• Ensure facility equipment is used properly and maintained in good working order
• Ensure that all branch staff members comply with company accounting policies
• Monitor staff performance, provide performance appraisals, and implement strategies to facilitate staff competency
• Maintain compliance with Heartland Lions Eye Banks Standard Operating Procedures, EBAA Medical Standards, and federal and state regulations
• May also encompass duties of Eye Bank Technician and/or Hospital Services Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Medical, funeral home, and/or surgical background preferred. Management experience a plus. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record as determined by foundation.

KNOWLEDGE AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong leadership skills, ability to direct and supervise employees. Ability to work with distraction and to multi-task. Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, and web-based applications.

EFFORT REQUIRED:
Will require professional interaction with clients and/or outside agencies. This position requires a great amount of flexibility due to the nature of the Eye Bank’s 24-hour business. This may include day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours to respond to branch needs or in an on-call status occasionally going beyond shift times in order to complete tasks. Ability to perform delicate manual procedures requiring high amounts of dexterity necessary. Ability to handle the mental/physical strain involved in the use of printed materials and monitors. May required long periods of standing and long periods of sitting in office or while driving. Ability to lift and/or move over 50 pounds. Continual training and certification necessary requiring occasional out of town stays.

PART-TIME EYE BANK TECHNICIAN SPRINGFIELD, IL

We are currently looking to fill 3-4 openings in our technician team.  The team works together to provide 24/7 on-call coverage to Springfield and several communities across central Illinois.  All technicians are trained to review medical charts and procure eye tissue for potential transplant. 

A variety of flexible shifts are currently available, however applicants must be available to help cover weekends/holidays on a rotating schedule and be able to report to the office within 30 minutes of page (during on-call shift).  A valid DL and clean driving record are required.  Science, research or medical background is preferred.  Positions may require heavy lifting or standing for long periods of time. For more details, please review the complete job description.

PART-TIME EYE BANK TECHNICIAN KANSAS CITY, MO

We are currently looking to fill an overnight and weekend on-call Eye Bank Technician position in the Kansas City area.  Applicant must be available midnight-noon Monday-Friday to serve as the secondary person on call.  Applicant would also be required to take call at least 2 weekends each month.  Must reside within a 30 minute radius of our office (located near KCI airport).  All technicians are trained to procure eye tissue for potential transplant and review medical charts.  A valid DL and clean driving record are required.  Science, research or medical background is preferred.  Positions may require heavy lifting or standing for long periods.  For more details, please review the complete job description
