Melissa Williams
Since 2004, Melissa has connected surgeons and eye banks worldwide to high-quality corneal tissue at Heartland Lions Eye Banks.

Melissa joined the Eye Bank as the sole Tissue Distribution Coordinator. Today, as Tissue Distribution Manager, Melissa oversees the entire department, which includes a Tissue Distribution Coordinator and Tissue Distribution Assistant.

In her role, Melissa works to maintain strong relationships with our surgeons by ensuring the Eye Bank provides excellent service to their offices and patients. Melissa manages the shipment of all transplantable tissue and is on call 24/7 for distribution-related issues. In addition, she serves as the key contact person for the Vision Share Distribution Center and works alongside the organization to place as many corneas in the U.S. as possible.

Melissa has a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a Bachelor’s of Science in Child and Family Studies from Northwest Missouri State University.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and one-year-old daughter.
